Bikepacking Intro weekends

Our Introduction To Bikepacking weekends offer women and non-binary folks who are bikepacking-curious a chance to try it out in a supportive, fun, small group atmosphere. Based in locations that put us at the heart of some of the UK’s finest gravel routes, we can lend you most of the bikepacking bags and camping gear you need to get you out on your first overnight adventure.

We'll start the weekend in true Sisters In The Wild style, sharing skills and tips over campfire, before loading up the next morning to head out on an overnight adventure. We'll ride a mix of on road and off, rolling into our camp spot to pitch up and share dinner and a night under the stars. The next day, we’ll ride pack to base to unpack, debrief, and make plans for future adventures with new friends.

Your hosts for the weekend will be two of our SITW guides who will be your biggest cheerleaders for the weekend. Both be British Cycling qualified MTB Leaders, with many miles of bikepacking experience, tips and tricks to share.

Upcoming Intro to Bikepacking Weekends

2024 dates now on sale.

Who is it for?

Folks with some riding experience who want to try bikepacking off-road for the first time. Or those who have done a bit, but want to build confidence and skills with a supportive group.

What type of riding?

The daily rides will be around 20 - 30 miles per day, and between 500 - 800m elevation gain.  We focus on finding great off-road routes that show of the beautiful landscapes we’ll ride through, and the types of trails you’re allowed to ride on a bikepacking trip.  There’ll be a mix of gravel, rocky bridleways, grass, mud, road and everything in between! There’ll be bits where we’ll probably take our bikes for a walk, or push it up (or down!) a hill, but that’s all part of the fun.   Also a great excuse for a snack stop…..

What kit do I need?

You’ll need an off-road suitable bike (gravel or MTB - we can give you bike hire tips!), but we can lend the majority of bikepacking and camping gear needed. You’ll need to bring a lightweight sleeping bag (we’ll have a few to loan), helmet, bike lights, basic repair stuff. We’ll send a full kit list out in advance.
